Hey there! My name is Anthony Knasas, and I’m a director, editor, writer and graphic designer from Hingham, MA. I first entered the creative field in my formative years with a passion for pen & ink illustration. As a teenager, my focus evolved into making short films with the family camcorder. I wrote my first screenplay at fourteen, which was accepted into the 2001 New York Film and Video Festival and later attended The Academy of Art University in San Francisco as well as The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with a focus in film.
In 2008, I moved to Los Angeles with my brother to develop a career that resulted in multiple short films, screenplays and a music video that was featured in an international Samsung commercial campaign. Other jobs included serving as a production assistant on various films, tv shows, commercials and stand-up live comedy events as well as editing reels for actors through CAA. I was also a Warner Bros. Studios tour guide and a background alien in full green prosthetics for Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi satire, “The Orville”. In 2016, I decided to learn Photoshop and indulge my lifelong love of making film art and started getting hired to design movie posters and key art for various independent productions in the LA area. In 2019, I moved back to Hingham to raise my daughter and in the next year, at the height of the pandemic, I was able to finally write, direct and produce my first feature film, a bully revenge thriller called “The Anger”. It was a sincere passion project filled with favors from friends and family as well as a collaboration with musician, Matt Koelsch, for the score. I am currently weighing distribution options with streamers and hopeful the film will be viewable to the world within the year.
On any production, I always strive to keep costs low and equipment minimal while also delivering a final product that exudes a true bang for the buck. I’m always on the lookout to increase production value whether it be shooting at magic hour, securing a desirable location for low or no cost or just sticking my camera out the window of a moving vehicle to mimic a buttery smooth dolly shot. I live for this type of thing and I love doing it.
I’m currently based out of Hingham and the Boston area but I’m always open to travel for potential projects. If you have an idea and would like to connect, please feel free to reach out on the contact page.
I’d love to hear what you have in mind!
